The joy of having loyal customers in the Southern Hemisphere is that we can always rely on some of them to give us the low-down on our autumn footwear styles for men before we get the chance to wear them in the north!

While the Brits and the rest of Europe and America were moving into deck shoes and sockless loafers earlier in the year, our friends in the south were swapping open-toed shoes for lace-ups, buckled shoes, and boots. Our dear friend Jerry Tharapos and his son Jonathan tried on some autumn styles as the leaves on the Melbourne trees turned to orange and red. As ours do the same, we can see what styles they liked the look of.

Jerry is a dapper gent for sure. He likes a suit, and he likes a hat…and he wears them well. He paired his suit with our Wilson Chelsea boot in dark leaf (below). British made, this is a very fine boot with a beautiful calf leather upper. While Jerry sports the Wilson with his suit, this style will look good with jeans too – and a motorbike – so is a core staple for any man’s wardrobe.

But Jerry being Jerry, he also spotted our Montpellier (below). Again, made in England by craftsmen in one of the established Northamptonshire factories, this is a monk shoe with a difference. It has a kiltie and brogue detailing…and there is a two-tone version. Jerry’s motto is “Be daring, be dashing”. The Montpellier fits this mantra for sure.

Jerry & Son also took a few styles out for a test drive in a more rural setting. Of course, Jerry had plenty of outfits to befit the occasion and teamed a checked suit with our burgundy grain Windermere laced boot. With a leather upper and full leather lining, the commando rubber sole and Veldtschoen construction make this a highly water-resistant shoe and most excellent for scuffing through autumn leaves.

Son Jonathan opted for the Gosforth II chukka boot in tan grain. Another durable number with a really rich colour that can lift any autumn outfit.
