To anyone local, Mill Bay will instantly make them reminisce about one of the most beautiful beaches in the South Hams, the home of Herring Shoes. Naturally, this was the inspiration for naming our latest addition to our luggage catalogue from the exclusive Tanner Bates.

What makes a tote bag?

Made out of canvas with a leather handle, the Mill Bay tote encapsulates that feeling of freedom, adventure, and unforgettable days out. You can almost smell the sea breeze!

Measuring 36 x 29 x 10 cm it’s the perfect size for your daily essentials. (These include your children’s discarded items they inevitably no longer want to carry them.) The canvas body ensures it’s robust and rugged enough for daily use. The Mill Bay bag is practical, aesthetically pleasing and well made. You even have the choice of three colours because we do like to spoil our customers!

As always with Herring Shoes, the devil is in the detail. The canvas is made from 18oz Hally Stevenson traditional waxed cotton. Hand-peened copper rivets hold the canvas together. This ensures longevity and adds that handmade, bespoke feel.

And, let’s not forget that final local touch. This tote bag has been designed and made by hand at the exquisite Tanner Bates workshop in Dartington.

The Mill Bay is an easy win is you’re looking for a gift or fancy treating yourself. We think it is a dead cert crowd-pleaser. The hardest decision will be which colour you to pick!

Bespoke tote bags made for you

Owning a truly bespoke piece does come with a small delay on delivery as these bags are made to order. We aim to get your bag to you between 3-4 weeks from placing your order. Need your order quicker? We will do our best to get it to you sooner. As they say, the best things in life are worth waiting for. The Mill Bay is one of them!
